About Alyssa

Alyssa Kruschke - Elementary Writing

For the last seven years I have been home raising my two sons Harrison and Jameson. Before having kids I was an elementary teacher in New Richmond, the town where my husband Joe and I were both raised. I absolutely loved teaching, although I seem to have become more of an “unschooler” with my own children. What I treasured most in the classroom setting was the time with “my” students, knowing them so well, guiding,  teaching and watching them learn and grow. It’s a gift that I will treasure in my heart forever. I can’t wait to have a new group of students and families this year! For the past year I have been visiting schools and churches, sharing a book I published, and I felt a draw to go back into a classroom setting. The Journey is giving me the opportunity to honor that desire while allowing me to be home raising our boys. I’m so grateful! Outside of school, I love to journal, write, read, and study my Bible. We have two baskets designated for our insane amount of library books. (Thank you librarians!) My boys love to be outside in all types of weather and I’m right there with them! I never saw it coming, but I absolutely love playing in the mud, catching tadpoles in the ponds, fishing, skiing, gardening (with lots of weeds!), and just being outside as much as humanly possible. We enjoy every season and all activities that go along with them.
