This is the first year that I’m offering an art class just for my high schoolers! Students will have the time and space to be able to dive into advanced techniques, while still being approachable for those who may not have as much prior experience with art.

We’ll not only look at traditional art techniques like ceramics (which my older students have been requesting for a while!), still life painting and micrography, but we’ll also be looking at more recent applications in the art world that lead to more modern uses, from literary illustration to font design.

Plus, students will have time to create a passion project, a painting of their choice using sketches, reference materials, ideas from art history, personal experiences, etc. I’m so excited to give these students the opportunity to delve deep into art and have the time to create detailed, incredible works of art!

Homework: The bulk of our projects will be completed in class, but on occasion students may be asked to research an artist/technique, do preliminary sketches, or complete unfinished artwork at home. This will be communicated in class as well as via my weekly email updates.
