About the Class:
Overview of the Bible: Old Testament Survey
This two-semester course integrates a fast-moving Old Testament overview specifically designed for middle school students with personal application and an emphasis on God’s sovereign power and activity.
During their journey, students will visit all 39 books of the Old Testament, from Genesis to Malachi, from creation to the exile and beyond. Along the way, we will focus on key Bible chapters and verses, events, characters, themes, and doctrines. There will also be a special focus on identifying ways in which Christ is predicted, pictured, or present throughout the Old Testament.
The assignments for this course will include Bible reading, memory verses, written reflections, and quizzes. The goal of this course is that students might grow in their understanding of the Bible and how the various parts fit together to tell one grand story that centers on Jesus, and be equipped for a life-long journey of learning to know and treasure God through studying and applying His Word to their everyday lives.
