ABOUT THE CLASS

Learn the history of the United States from the earliest explorers to the present day. Understand our
country's place in historic and geographic context, and how this relates to our role in the present world.
Understand how various streams of Christian thought have interacted with our political and social
history.

Students will complete Charlene Notgrass's America The Beautiful curriculum, which provides a high
level overview of American history and geography. Weekly quizzes are in the America the Beautiful
Student Workbook. Four quarterly writing projects of one to two pages will be assigned. 

REQUIRED MATERIALS

1. Textbooks: America the Beautiful Parts 1 and Parts 2  by Charlene Notgrass

2. We the People from America the Beautiful series by Notgrass

3. Textbook: America the Beautiful Student Workbook from America the Beautiful series by Notgrass

OPTIONAL MATERIALS:
The America the Beautiful Literature Package is NOT required.  This OPTIONAL package, designed to dovetail with Notgrass’s history curriculum is intended to provide a separate English credit.  This is outside the scope of this course.
