About Liz

Hello from your Homeschool Art teacher! I’ve been teaching at Journey since 2010, and this is easily the best job I’ve ever had. Every year I’m here, I feel more and more excited to do what I do. I have a BFA in visual art with a concentration in graphic design from Colorado State University, and I've been licensed to teach art for K-12 in WI and MN.  My husband and I moved to River Falls after we got married in 2008; we love the St. Croix Valley and are so pleased to be raising our two kids here in a community so passionate about parenting and teaching!   When I'm not teaching art at The Journey, you’ll find me enjoying long hours of read alouds with my own kiddos, working on my own art projects in my studio, mentoring young artists, hosting, creating lesson plans, being involved with my local congregation of The River Church, or enjoying the abundance of God's inspiring creation here in the Midwest.  God's made us all in His image, which means our creativity reflects His...which is something I tell all my students, especially the ones who say those all-too common words: "I can't draw!" I feel incredibly blessed to be back at The Journey again this year, and I am looking forward to seeing what God's plan is for us in art!
